Setter
The setter is the primary ball-distributing player on a team, responsible for the second contact in most offensive plays. While "setter" is a positional/tactical term not formally defined in FIVB rules, the setter typically plays in a front-row position in 6-2 and 5-1 offensive systems. When a front-row setter attacks, it is treated as a front-row attack; when the setter is in the back row, they may not complete an attack hit above the net from in front of the attack line.
