Back-Row Attack

A back-row attack fault occurs when a back-row player completes an attack hit while the ball is entirely above the top of the net and the player's takeoff point was at or in front of the attack line (3-meter line). Per FIVB Rule 13.3.2, the player may jump from behind the attack line and land in front of it, provided the contact point is behind the line at takeoff. The libero is specifically prohibited from completing any attack hit where the ball is entirely above the net, regardless of position on the court (FIVB Rule 19.3.1.3).
