Quick Set (1-Set)

A quick set is delivered to a hitter who is already in the air as the setter contacts the ball. It is written as a "1" or an "A" in common offense notation. The ball is set low (often just above the net tape) directly in front of the setter to a middle hitter. Quick sets are designed to beat the block by attacking before blockers can set up. They are not separately defined in FIVB rules; all contact rules apply (FIVB Rule 9).
