Quick Set (1-Set)

A quick set (also called a "1" or "A" in common offense notation) is a set delivered to a hitter who has already begun their approach and is jumping as the setter contacts the ball. The ball is set low (often just above the net tape) directly in front of the setter to a middle hitter. Quick sets are designed to beat the block by attacking before blockers can set up. They are not separately defined in FIVB rules; all contact rules apply (FIVB Rule 9).
