Penetration (Blocking Penetration)

Penetration refers to a blocker reaching their arms and hands over and across the top of the net into the opponent's space. Per FIVB Rule 14.3, after the opponent's attack hit has been made, a blocker may reach over the net to block. However, the blocker may not touch the ball on the opponent's side before the opponent has contacted it. Illegal penetration (reaching over before the opponent's attack contact) is a fault resulting in a point for the opponent.
