Help Side

The help side (or help-side blocker) refers to the blocker or blockers who move to assist the primary blocker in forming a double or triple block on an outside or right-side attack. The help side must close the block quickly to prevent seams between the blockers. "Help side" is a tactical term, not defined in FIVB rules. Blocking rules apply: only front-row players may block (FIVB Rule 14.1.1), and blockers may not contact the ball before the opponent has attacked (FIVB Rule 14.3).
