Attack Line (3-Meter Line)

The attack line is a line drawn 3 meters from and parallel to the center line on each side of the court. Per FIVB Rule 1.3.3, the attack line divides the front zone (net side) from the back zone. Front-row players (positions 2, 3, 4) may attack and block from anywhere in the front zone. Back-row players may not complete an attack hit where the ball is entirely above the net if their takeoff occurred at or in front of the attack line (FIVB Rule 13.3.2). The attack line extends to the sidelines and is considered part of the front zone.
