Libero Replacement Zone

The libero replacement zone is the part of the free zone on the team-bench side, between the extension of the attack line and the end line. It is defined in FIVB Rule 1.4.4. The libero and the replaced player may only enter or leave the court through this zone (FIVB Rule 19.3.2.7). Per FIVB Rule 19.3.2.1, a libero replacement is not counted as a substitution and replacements are unlimited, but there must be a completed rally between two libero replacements. The exchange takes place while the ball is out of play and before the whistle for service (FIVB Rule 19.3.2.4), and the libero may only replace a back-row player (FIVB Rule 19.3.1.1).
