Per FIVB Rule 12.5.1, the serving team must not screen the opponents from seeing the server or the trajectory of the served ball. Actions such as players jumping, waving their arms, or standing together to form a visual barrier are screening faults. Individual players standing normally in their legal rotational positions are not considered to be screening even if they happen to be near the server's path. A screening fault results in a point and serve for the receiving team. Under NFHS Rule 6-2, similar screening rules apply. NCAA rules also prohibit screening.
