Per FIVB Rule 12.7.3, a served ball that contacts the net (including the top tape) and goes over into the opponent's court is a legal serve and play continues normally. This rule changed in 2000 (previously a serve touching the net was a fault). If the serve contacts the net and fails to cross to the opponent's side, it is a service fault per FIVB Rule 12.8.1, and the opponent is awarded a point and the serve.
