Wipe (Wiping off the Block)

Wiping off the block is the same technique as tooling the block. The attacker deflects the ball off the blocker's hands and out of bounds to win the point. The term "wipe" is used colloquially. Under FIVB rules, the blocker's deflection is the last contact, so the blocking team is charged with the ball going out. FIVB Rule 14.6.4 lists "the ball is sent out off the block" as a blocking fault, and the general out rules are in FIVB Rule 8.4.
