Sideout
A sideout occurs when the receiving team wins the rally and gains the right to serve. Under rally scoring (the current system), a point is awarded on every rally. When the receiving team wins a rally, they score a point AND rotate before serving. The term "sideout" originated in the old sideout scoring system where only the serving team could score.
