Rally

Per FIVB Rule 6.1.3, a rally is the sequence of playing actions from the moment of the service hit until the ball is out of play. Under rally scoring (FIVB Rule 6.1.3), each completed rally results in a point being awarded to one team; a double fault or external interference leads to a replay with no point (FIVB Rules 6.1.2.2 and 17.2). The winner of the rally either scores a point and retains the serve (if they were already serving) or scores a point and earns the serve (if they were receiving).
