Dig

A dig is a defensive technique used to receive a hard-driven attack, typically performed with a forearm pass (bump) to prevent the ball from touching the floor. The dig is not a formally defined term in FIVB rules but refers colloquially to any successful reception of an attack hit close to the floor. Legally, any body part may be used for a dig provided it results in a clean, single contact.
