Centerline Violation (Crossing Line Fault)

A centerline violation occurs when a player completely crosses the centerline (the line along the center of the net at floor level) and has both feet or hands entirely on the opponent's side of the court. Per FIVB Rule 11.3.3, a player may partially cross the centerline with their foot or hand provided some part of the crossing foot or hand is on or above the centerline at the moment of contact. Completely crossing to the opponent's side with no part of the body on the centerline is a fault. Body parts above the floor (legs, torso, arms) may cross the plane of the net provided it does not interfere with the opponent's play.
