Centerline Violation (Crossing Line Fault)

A centerline violation occurs when a player's foot crosses completely into the opponent's court (FIVB Rule 11.4.3). The centre line runs under the net from side line to side line. Per FIVB Rule 11.2.2.1, a player may touch the opponent's court with a foot provided some part of that foot remains in contact with or directly above the centre line and the action does not interfere with the opponent's play. Per FIVB Rule 11.2.2.2, any part of the body above the feet, including the hands, may touch the opponent's court provided it does not interfere with the opponent's play.
